Steel Desulphurisation

The treatment of liquid steel is carried out by lance injection of calcium bearing compounds or with vigorous argon stirring of synthetic slag.

Advantages:

• Relatively low investment cost.
• Sulphur levels to <20 ppm S.
• Good recovery of reagents under argon shrouding.
• Modification of non-metallic inclusions.
• Effective separation of non-metallic inclusions.
• Wire feeding facilities can be added.
