Hot Metal Desulphurisation (Deep Injection)

The desulphurisation of liquid iron is effected by deep powder injection using a refractory coated lance.  Various powders can be injected on their own (mono-injection), or in combination (co-injection).  These powders include CaO, CaC₂, Mg, Mg/CaO, Mg/CaC₂, or a mixture of CaO/CaF₂. The sulphur bearing slag is then removed using an integrated or separate slag skimming process.  The desulphurising and slag removal processes are both connected to a dedusting system.
