SMS Mevac UK Limited specialise in the design, installation, commissioning and servicing of secondary steelmaking plant to treat liquid iron and liquid steel.

SMS Mevac UK Limited is jointly owned by SMS Mevac GmbH of Essen, Germany and Corus.  SMS Mevac UK Limited and SMS Mevac GmbH have successfully installed over 700 secondary steelmaking units worldwide.

Our scope of supply includes not only new units but also the modernisation, rebuilding and servicing of existing installations. With our process know how, our engineers, process specialists and metallurgists are capable of designing, installing and commissioning the most technically advanced units within minimum time periods. Any process required to condition the liquid iron or liquid steel between the primary producing unit and the subsequent processing step is part of the scope of SMS Mevac UK Limited.

Each plant is designed to suit the metallurgical and production requirements of individual customers.

The range of products includes vacuum and atmospheric degassing processes, chemical and electrical heating, powder injection, alloy addition systems and oxygen blowing technology.

SMS Mevac UK Limited has also developed expertise in the modernisation and enhancement of existing units and can offer a wide range of ancillary equipment, including materials handling, automatic gas coupling units, samplers to operate at atmospheric pressure or under vacuum, and oxy-gas burner systems.
